At some point, we must all have experienced a sense of discomfort in our stomach as soon as we have had a meal. We feel too full and suffocated during these times because we experience a common problem known as bloating after eating. To prevent this, we can follow the following simple ten steps:
- Know what induces bloating
You are the best judge of your body. You should be able to recognise the foods that don’t suit you. You can also check with a medical expert about the foods that you need to avoid if you don’t want to experience bloating after eating. Don’t consume too many raw vegetables (especially leafy ones), apples, dairy products and onions together, as this may cause your tummy to feel fat.
- Reduce fibre consumption
While fibres are considered to be quite healthy, you need to know where to draw the line when it comes to their quantity of consumption. Never try to switch to whole grains at a stretch, as this will cause an uneasy feeling in your stomach and lead to bloating after eating.
- Reduce salt intake
When you include more of salt in your body, you are allowing your body to retain more water inside. However, the golden rule is – the more water you flush you, the healthier you become! When water accumulates in your body, you start feeling full immediately after a meal, and this upsets your routine activities as well.
- Reduce consumption of fatty foods
Foods that are rich in fats are always dangerous for your digestive system. When your digestion gets hampered, you will automatically feel bloating after eating. Control consumption of high-fat foods like red meat and you will see a remarkable difference in no time.
- Reduce consumption of aerated drinks
Resist your temptation to consume aerated drinks, because these beverages do considerable harm to your digestive system. These are full of artificial sugars and leads to accumulation of carbon dioxide within your body, which eventually results in a bloating feeling. Water is the best and healthiest drink for you.
- Take a brisk walk
It is highly recommended that you walk for 30 minutes every day to feel light. However, if you feel a sudden bloating after eating, you can take a brisk walk for about 15 to 20 minutes to feel your muscles relax a bit. You will be able to get rid of your heavy feeling instantly with this simple exercise.
- Ample time gap between food and drinks
Never drink water or any other juices along with your food, because it leads to improper digestion of food. According to health experts, you should drink water only 30 minutes after you meal, so that your stomach acids perform well in breaking down foods completely.
- Medical intervention
When you continue to experience bloating after eating even after following a healthy diet and lifestyle, you should seek medical help right away, because this could be a symptom for other serious ailments like Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Celiac disease and other allergies.
